Welcome to Nannysitters
Portia and Dirk took over Nannysitters in 2022. Bringing with them a background in Business, Human Resources, IT and Childcare. Portia filled her free hours as a teen babysitting for family friends, once she graduated she combined her desire for travel with her childcare strengths and knew being an Au Pair was the next logical step. After her time abroad she moved back to Canada and joined nannysitters in 2016. Since then Portia obtained her business degree, and has been working in local government. Portia is excited to help support families in their childcare needs and feels confident with her knowledge and experience from working directly with families to now having her own family.
The Nannysitters Story
Nannysitters was created to fill a long-empty niche in the Okanagan childcare market, and since its inception in 2008 has been successfully connecting residents and visitors throughout the Okanagan with fabulous local nannies. Childcare providers play an important role in helping children to develop physically, emotionally and intellectually. It is our goal to support families in selecting the right childcare provider by recruiting only the most professional, experienced and dedicated nannies available!
In 2022 the founder of Nannysitters was ready to embark on new endeavors and was excited to hand over the reins. Portia, a long term nanny coupled with her professional background in both business and childcare was the right candidate to take over.

Our Fabulous Nannies
Our outstanding team of nannysitters includes Professional Nannies, Teachers and Early Childhood Educators. With an impressive roster of 70+ wonderful nannies available for casual babysitting, we are able to accommodate most requests.
We believe that every interaction a child engages in helps to shape their understanding of the world around them; therefore, our nannies take every opportunity to enhance your child's experience by engaging with them in a positive and supportive manner.
All of our nannies reside in the Okanagan and have been fully screened to ensure that they possess (at minimum) the following skills and qualifications
- Current First-Aid certificate
- Clean Criminal Record Check
- Minimum 19 years of age
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Minimum 2 years of current childcare experience
- Knowledge of age-appropriate play and activities
- A genuine interest in healthy child development
- Outstanding references
